What do chat apps require from a sticker?

Each app has its own rules, and a sticker that breaks them is refused on upload or looks wrong in the chat:

Destination Image Limits
Telegram PNG or WebP, one side exactly 512 px up to 512 KB each, a 100 px thumbnail, up to 120 per set
WhatsApp WebP, 512 × 512 px with an 8 px margin up to 100 KB each, a 96 × 96 tray icon, 3 to 30 per pack
iMessage PNG, 618 × 618 px (large stickers) up to 500 KB each
Discord PNG, 320 × 320 px up to 512 KB each

The sticker maker prepares a download for each of these, so you do not have to resize, pad or re-compress anything yourself. Platforms change their rules from time to time; the table reflects them as checked when this guide was written.

How do I make a character pack?

Open the AI logo generator and choose Stickers, then A character.

  1. Describe who. For example: "a round chubby ginger cat with a cream belly and muzzle, small triangle ears and rosy cheeks, named Biscuit". This description goes into every sticker, which keeps the character recognisable.
  2. Pick one of four looks. The first step draws the character four ways. The one you pick is the reference for the whole pack.
  3. List the expressions. One per chip, with the caption in quotes: waving "Hi!", thumbs up "OK", yawning in pyjamas "Good night". A caption can be up to 40 characters and is drawn as you type it, so check the spelling before you send.
  4. Choose a style and a border. The style is Cartoon, Cute or Flat, plus up to 300 characters in your own words and up to three colours. The border is white, a colour or none.

Nine stickers of Biscuit the cat with captions such as Hi!, Thanks!, OK and Good night, each cut out with a white border

Our example pack "Biscuit says…": one character, nine expressions with captions, a white die-cut border.

For a pack of objects instead of a character (snacks, plants, planets), choose Things and list them the same way. A sheet holds up to nine stickers and a pack up to 30. The price of a new pack is printed on the button before you send it.

Why is each sticker traced into a vector?

A drawing made at sheet size is too small and too soft for a 512 px sticker or a printed one. Each sticker is cut out of the sheet, traced into a vector, and given a border that the tool draws itself at an even width. The border is not part of the drawing. Because the sticker is a vector, the PNG and WebP files are rendered fresh at the size each app wants, and the print files can be any size from 3 to 10 cm without blurring.

If one sticker comes out wrong, redo it in a round with a note ("both paws visible", "caption on one line") or add new expressions; the rest of the pack stays as it is.

How do I add the pack to Telegram or WhatsApp?

Telegram: download the Telegram files and open the @Stickers bot in Telegram. Send /newpack, give the pack a name, then send each PNG or WebP as a file (not as a photo) with an emoji for it. Finish with /publish, the thumbnail and a short name for the pack's link.

WhatsApp: stickers are added through an app, not uploaded by hand. Use a sticker maker app from your phone's store, or WhatsApp's own sample project if you build your own app, and import the WebP files and the tray icon from the download. A WhatsApp pack must hold between 3 and 30 stickers.

Can I print the stickers and cut them out?

Yes. The print and cut download has each sticker as a PNG at 300 DPI and as an SVG at your chosen size. The cut line is a separate path in its own layer, named CutContour, which is the name cutting software and print shops look for. You can also ask for a whole sheet on A4 or on Letter within the Cricut Print Then Cut area. Set the bleed to 1 or 2 mm if your printer cannot print to the edge of the cut.

Cut a test sticker before printing a full sheet: printers and cutters differ in how precisely they register. The files give you a cut path; they do not calibrate your machine.

What makes a good sticker?

Use bold shapes and a clear silhouette that reads at the size of a chat bubble. Keep captions short, two or three words. Give expressions that read without the caption: a wave, a thumbs up, tears. And keep the same character description for every pack, so a second pack matches the first.
