Is it free?

Which images convert well?
Logos, icons, line art and flat illustrations: images made of a limited number of flat colors. Photographs come back posterized into flat color areas rather than reproduced faithfully; a clean color ramp inside one shape can come back as a smooth gradient.
Is an SVG a vector file?
Yes, when it is made of paths. An SVG describes shapes as outlines and fills, so it stays sharp at any size. Some converters only wrap the original PNG inside an SVG file, which still blurs when enlarged; every png2svg.art result is checked to contain vector paths only, with no embedded bitmap. Does it keep a transparent background?
Yes. Transparent areas of a PNG or WebP stay transparent, and the SVG gets no background box. A JPG has no transparency, so turn on Remove background to leave a plain backdrop out. More on transparency.
How many colors can the SVG have?
From 2 to 24. The slider sets a maximum: flat artwork keeps only the colors it really has. The Standard preset starts at 8. How to choose the number.
Can ChatGPT make SVG files?
ChatGPT can write SVG code for simple shapes, because SVG is text. The pictures that ChatGPT, Midjourney or Gemini generate are raster images: PNG, JPG or WebP files made of pixels. To turn a flat-style AI image into vector paths, trace it here; the tracing itself is not AI. AI images to SVG.
Can I use the SVG commercially?
You keep the rights you already have in your artwork. Make sure you have permission to use the original image, especially when selling a design or printing merchandise.
How long are my files kept?
Guest uploads and previews are deleted after 24 hours. Files in an account are kept for 30 days; the exact expiry time is shown on each file. Credits do not expire, but stored files do.
